making tools
i have made tools since 1986 mostly for wood craft.ive been thinking about making plane kits but not the spiers factory plans but like the planes in the book the art of fine tools i have cpied the goosewing ax at the front of the book. i sent a sample to robin lee hopfully they will carrie it.im pretty much planing on copying a lot of the tools in the book.what do you think? your friend truckwilkins

being a very backward hillbilly or mountain william as we like to be called i barely know how to get on the internet.my son however who is a green beret ex marine my can help me. i am legally blind and got this computer from the va when i went thru thier blind rehab school in augusta ga.i dont let my eyesight keep me from doing just about anything i set my mind to.
in answer to the other post im not talking about copying current tools in production.but tools that were made before WW2
if there are other toolmakers around this forum how do i commune with them?

if you start a discussion about one or more aspect of a handtool you've made, others will most likely chime in. there are several hand plane makers, at least one maker of fine hand saws and one psychologist who tries his hand at several disciplines. perhaps your son would photo and post some of your work here. i, for one, would enjoy that.

I would be worried about getting sued for using somebody else's design for profit. I would get approval from the original designers in writing before proceeding. I know I wouldn't be a happy camper if somebody made a living off my design and I didn't get a cut.
