joining obtuse angle stiles
joining obtuse angle stiles (post #162276)
Hello everyone! I have just started a very high end project and the first task I have to do is to install raised panels/rails and stiles in a hallway that has two obtuse corners, one inside and one outside. The inside corner doesn't present much of a problem as I will be able to back bevel and "lap" the pieces to create a suitable corner. However, the outside corner, which requires an 8.5 degree bevel on both pieces, presents the challenge. Do any of you folks out there have any tricks you use in this situation that facilitates assembly while also strengthening the joint to survive the test of time? This room is being done in natural finish maple (clear coat of some kind) and the owner has a definite preference for no visible fasteners. Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy woodworking!

You should probably post this in the "Joinery" section. The "Cafe" is for off-topic discussions.

finish carp ,
You can use a continuous spline or bizkits , I'd use a spline the size of a saw kerf.
