Mangrove (Avicennia marina ) (post #169126)

I have recently had access to a large volume of Mangrove logs, and apart from chipping or firewood, wonder if it has any qualities for woodworking?
Dried and sliced pieces show remarkable and unusual grain,- veneer?
Color varies with area of reclamation from white to purple.
The initial stink of the wood can be removed.
The salt content affects the color.
Has anybody experience with specie of timber please?
TIA
