Neat.  Is that wood turned (post #160871, reply #1 of 5)

Neat.  Is that wood turned and carved to look like rebar, or some composit or plastic?  I know it is not real rebar.  But if it was, even better.  But it can't be.  Can it?  No.  But I wish it was.

REAL Rebar (post #160871, reply #2 of 5)

A fellow in AUS made a few of these, from scrap rebars that a road crew gave him.    Looks like either a #4, or #5 rebar.     He used a Slim line pen kit.      Drilled the holes on the lathe, no less.   Looks like a schedule 60 bar, also.   Yep, that's a real rebar.

I wonder what happens when (post #160871, reply #3 of 5)

I wonder what happens when you try to go thru airport security with one of those in your pocket?  I love it.  And I thought my Rotrings had heft to them.  That pen would come over and kick sand in my pen's face.

reinforcement (post #160871, reply #4 of 5)

What gauge steel is recommended for reinforcing one's pocket?  Or, is it best to use a steel pocket protector with a support harness?  ;-)

pocket protectors? (post #160871, reply #5 of 5)

This might go into the same place I carried my pencils while working with rebar....my carpenter's belt pouch.      They had a couple "pockets" in the pouch to hold pencils.     Besides, 5-6" of #4 rebar doesn't weigh all that much.     Note: #4 rebar is about 1/2" in diameter.    Rebar is sold by the 1/8"......4 x 1/8 =  1/2.      I've work with some rebar that was #16!
