beginner turning help
I've been woodworking for a few years and want to do some turning. Bowls, vases, that type of thing. I bought a set of turning tools and have a bowl gouge. I have access to a lathe but not much help with techniques, what to do, what not to do.
Can anyone provide some advice on resources for getting started? I know Woodcraft has a class, but I don't have a store very close.
Thanks for any good advice.
John

books and DVDs (post #169720, reply #1 of 1)
If you are the type who can learn from books and DVDs, there are several good ones available. Taunton has one, and Richard Raffan has done a couple of books and, as I recall, has DVDs available, as well.
I think I would also suggest doing a little spindle turning to get a feel for using the tools, before tackling a bowl or a vase.
