Just checking.. (post #169358, reply #1 of 7)
After I posted this new thread the spam filter kept me from replying to any other threads.
Quite nice (post #169358, reply #2 of 7)
It is great how you got all the drawer fronts to line up and still use the metal guides.
A chest of drawers that is pleasing to look at to be sure.
Ebony was interesting for me to turn. I have very limited experience with it. I turned it on my metal lathe and even put machine threads into it.
The ebony handles you made are beautiful. They really look great with the finish on them.
What finish did you use on the handles, was it oil and lacquer as well or did you do anything special to make them look so rich ?

Thanks roc,
Creating the drawer fronts required working from a drawing of the opening, standard for any none square construction without reference points.
To make it even more interesting the drawers are edged with 3/8" solids :)
I was going to leave the ebony handles with just an oil coat but decided to install them before spraying the fronts with lacquer.

BTW - how long does this verification thingee go on ?

Do you refer to the 'type the code to get out of jail' thingee ?
Useful isn't it ? Kind of like stop lights on the freeway.
Yes, some times it goes away for a while; maybe it has to sleep to regain its strength. [ for instance it isn't on right this minute ]
Mostly it is there to drive members to other chat rooms.
Thanks for posting your photos !

It certainly does drive members away, it appears there are six people active right now, he, he..
Even with the clunky interface and spirited discussions this used to be a good site.

BTW - I just received six email notifications of your post.

Maybe it is my avatar photo; I know it scares me.
: )
Sorry about the multiple message reminders. I wonder if it is because I take about six tries to get all the mistakes and typos out of my replies. I have been getting a bunch of multiples as well. On my end it may be because I start out on the iPad because it is with me some where in the house, then I change to the laptop because there are things I can't do on the iPad in this chat room but can in other chat rooms on the iPad, then I need to post a photo and they are on the desk top so I log in to FWW there. Used to not be a problem of multiple reminders.
Who knows.

PS: what did you use for glue behind your verneer ?
PPS: I just made this one edit. I wonder if you will get just one or two reminders now.

Only four notifications this time :) (post #169358, reply #7 of 7)
Happy Thanksgiving US, we've had ours already :)
I choose my glue according to wood color, hide for walnut and in this case yellow for the maple.
