Cutting "false buttons"
A while back, I made some Stickley style frames and a porch swing. I made false through tenon buttons for them. However, I just can't remember how I did it! I'm now making a small frame & want to have small, square buttons in the corners. I'd rather not "reinvent the wheel" How do you do it?
Thanks in advance for jogging an old guy's memory.

Were the buttons standing (post #167376, reply #1 of 2)
Were the buttons standing slightly proud of the surface after all was said and done? If so, I was told to make a square stick, detail the end as desired, cut to fit the depth of the hole and glue in place.

Thanks. That is the way I ended up doing them; & they turned out fine.
