Beadlock jig by Rockler

Steve B's picture

Any comments from users of this jig.  Ive done some loose tenon joinery on cabinets in the past with success. Ive read all of the reviews on the Rockler site which are positive.  I believe this tool has been around for some time and just wondering if any members here have comments about it.

Good stuff over all (post #169707, reply #2 of 2)

I have one.  I learned how to use it and it is a sound system.  I didn't really find any problems or issues with it.

It is kind of a gitterdone kind of tool.  When time is money and you don't have a square bit morticing machine.  Of course the loose tenon stock is maybe a little pricy but not bad.  You can even buy a specific router table bit(s) and mill your own loose tenon stock.  I have no experience with that.

I bought it for quick jobs and haven't used it a lot.  For my own stuff I take the extra time to make mortice and tenon joints which take a significant amount of additional time to make; are stronger and may have better longevity.  Talking a hundred years or so here.

If I were making furniture for customers I would have no qualms unless they are paying for top quality joinery then they deserve M&T.

I hope this helps until somebody with more experience posts to you.
