Plane making class this weekend in Atlanta, GA (post #169224)

Hi All:

This post is totally self-serving.  I'm teaching a plane making class this weekend at the Atlanta Woodcraft store and there are still a couple of seats left.  Attendees will build themselves a plane using the Hock Plane Kit.  Topics will include the difference between plane types and plane styles, how length, width, mouth placement, frog angles, tote/knob placement affects function, wood selection, and various sharpening tips.  I have posted several of my planes on Knots over the years.  All of them plus several others will be on hand for attendees to try out and glean ideas from.  In addition to going home with a great plane, each attendee will leave with several patterns and armed with the information they need to build any kind of bench plane they want using the Krenov method.  Here is a web link for those interested:

Beautiful planes you have posted.

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. Abraham Lincoln ( 54° shaves )

I fell this week and sprained my ankle. Will you repeat this workshop at some point? Thanks! Charyl in Douglasville

Hard to say (post #169224, reply #3 of 3)

Charyl:

Possibly, though it will propably be a year or two down the road.  I have done private woodworking lessons in the student's shop using mostly their tools (though I do provide hand tools so folks don't have to go buying stuff).
