Panel Cutting Software

SteveInParker's picture

Having looked at posts from a few years ago on this and other sites, it seems that "Cut List Plus" is favored by most woodworkers.  The last good discussion I saw was over 2 years old.  What are your thoughts?  Still Cut List Plus or has some other program replaced it?  Don't want to spend a ton, but CLP at $89 seems worth it if it saves me buying a $130 sheet of A-1 cherry...

Thanks,

Steve

SketchUp? (post #169726, reply #1 of 4)

If you are using Google SketchUp for design, you might post your question in that section of the forum here. I believe there is a plug-in that does a cutlist from your SketchUp file.

there is a plugin (post #169726, reply #2 of 4)

There is a plugin cutlist 4.1 .  It does most of what cutlist did (the important parts anyway IMO) but not nearly as sofisticated.  It gives me the BF LF and dimensions.   ITs free a tradoff i can live with.   I love it.

Still a cutlist user (post #169726, reply #3 of 4)

I still use cutlist.  The added features, such as remembering what offcuts you have, and the ability to specify grain orientation are two of the features I really like.

can u share features (post #169726, reply #4 of 4)

Hey, I've been on the fence for a while you have the full cutlist, which version ($89, or $249).  Could you specify a bit more on the grain oreientation?   you piqued my interest again.   I like some of the features like banding and the costing part but to get that I think you need to step up to the $250 version.    The free plugin is really basic.   I don't eve use the layout part just the generator of materials.
