I distinctly remember [decades-old] ads for furniture polish saying that wood needed regular “feeding” with wax, lemon oil, etc. I don’t know if it was true or just a marketing ploy.
It hardly seems relevant now, as our floors and most of our furniture are fiinished with polyurethane. The real question is: Does polyurethane need polish, wax, or some other regular treatment?

Polyurethane does not need wax. Oiling or painting can be used for refinishing.
