Bug Tracking
Hi Folks,
As you run into forum bugs... please post a note here.
And I'm not talking about upgrade, "nice-to-have" sort of features... but things that you'd think would work but don't...
For instance, I think that the "preview" function is broken when you post a comment. Instead of showing you a preview of your comment, it just refreshes the page.
Updated:
List of bugs to fix:
-No email notifications of replies to posts or comments
-Formatting tips should open in a new window
-System is slow
-Attachment problem when uploading something to a "comment"
-Member page formatting problem. Skyscraper ad covers page content.
NOTE: I've also started a separate post to track specific upgrade requests. So if you have a BUG to report, post it here. But, if you want to see an improvement report it on my upgrade request post.
Thanks for the help. Gina
Oops... I posted this under my alter-ego personality from the gardening site. Just testing to see what it looks like from an average user/not admin perspective.

Gina, What I was about to (post #142206, reply #1 of 62)
Gina,
What I was about to post just vanished when I went to look at formatting options, so don't go there again
This is so slow, I could walk the dog between views, that'll make the dog happy
Spell check would be nice to have back

Good call on the formatting (post #142206, reply #2 of 62)
Good call on the formatting tips. Yes, that should open in a new window. I've amended my initial post to include that.
RE: slowness... it should be faster in the future.
Spell check. I'll add that to our future upgrade request list.

Gina, on the FWW members page, it's showing content from FHB.
Gina, There is something (post #142206, reply #3 of 62)
Gina,
There is something buggy about the "upload a photo to your profile" function. I uploaded a picture, decided to change it, but it wouldn't go away in the edit profile tab. However, it was changed anywhere other members could see it.
Good luck.

Actually, the photo for the post above (the box I made my mom and that ran as a 4 part blog) isn't the picture that shows up on the members page (a shot you took while during the workbench video shoot). Strange. And perhaps not so strange that I would be concerned about something so vain!

Hi Matt, it might just take time. When I go to the members page now, your avatar looks updated. Thanks for reporting it.
This is what I see now:
But this was a good excercise. I tried to upload a photo to a comment and it didn't work:
Let me know if you folks experience the same thing. 128 KB is less than a MB right?

How do you attach photos? This one is 28kb.
Edit: Oh, this is wierd - I replied to Gina's post just above, so it appeared right below Gina's post, not at the very end!

In case this hasn't been addressed yet.
If you already have a photo in your profile...
You need to check the "Delete Picture" box
>Scroll down and hit the save button
>Wait for the edit profile window to come back
>Now there should be no photo at all, showing. And you can add your new photo.

I have the same problem. I am posting a link to a screen shot of the floating "community" button.
Like boilerbay, I don't see any way to attach a picture.
I'm using a Mac with Firefox.

Gina, When I click on the (post #142206, reply #12 of 62)
Gina,
When I click on the "Members" link, it takes me to the page, but in the fifth column, the top three profiles and half of the forth are covered by an ad banner. I'd post a picture, but I don't think I can. That's my only complaint, besides not being able to reply to a certain message. Otherwise, it will just take some getting used to!
Oh, and I find this box I type in too short, so the first thing I do is stretch it longer. I liked the big boxes of the good 'ol days!

Well, Chris' link has got a bunch of colors and funny fonts... Maybe mine is just too simple.
If you already mentioned the French Oak, one of the big lumber importers here just came out with a "new" item - they're calling it "African Oak", and trying to make a big fanfare. Of course I had to see what this nonsense is all about...Turns out it's plain old American Red Oak that's been fumed thru and thru. What'll they think of next?

David,
I didn't do anything to my signature since well before the changeover. I'm not certain, but I think that your link worked in the old forum.

"Slide show"?
Some apparently can view multiple images enlarged as a sequence. All I get is the single image. Have to go back to each image and enlarge. Is this a platform issue? Windows vs. Mac?

I have both FF and Safari. The slideshow is there you just have to know then is more than one image. In the lower left corner it will tell Image 4 of 5 or which ever image you selected. Then you find the directional arrow near the top of either the left or right border and select to move to the next image. If you are on the first image there will not be a go left arrow. It would be nicer to have NEXT and PREV arrows displayed always. At least the images do not resize so your cursor stay at the same spot.

I'm not sure if this is just me, but on screen on the "Members" page, ad copy overwrites the member photos and links on the right side of the page.

When I click on "Ask the Experts" I get returned to the Knots home page. I'm running Windows XP Pro and Firefox on a PC.
Generally speaking I'm finding the whole process of changing to the new site very much like the experience I had when I started a new job after 20 years of using PCs only to find that the entire company ran on Macs! It took a few days to get comfortable but it wasn't a life altering experience. I think this will work out much the same. . .

This is an oldy, but goody. Automatic log in is not working. However, now you can view the posts without loging in, you just don't seem to be able to reply or post. THis has been a bud in some form for awhile. IT is a real pain and makes using more dificult.

FWIW, Dan, I access the FWW home page first. The login there appears to take care of the login for Knots. That may, however, just be a difference in the cookie expiration date/time.

Ralph,
When I auto log on to knots and then go to main, I have to re-log on, but when I auto log in main site and then go to knots, the log on holds.
Go figure
I don't think they have even started addressing the log on problem. Probably the least of their worries.
