Friction Finish Recipes? (woodturning)

Quake_'s picture

I've used expensive friction polishes on
lathe turned projects with good results.
I prefer the liquid variety, rather than
the "bars". I've heard that one can make
their own finish, from the following
recipe: equal parts boiled linseed oil,
clear shellac, and methanol.

Has anyone tried this particular recipe?

Can anyone suggest alternative recipes,
or maybe point me to a place on the 'net
with info on friction finishes?
