Windsor Quilt Rack update

whitedogstr8leg's picture

The "Windsor Quilt Rack" update:   Spindles are shaped( not turned) and installed.  I used a spokeshave and a block plane to shape the spindles.  End posts are turned, morticed for the different parts to go in.  A finial is still being debated, may be just a "button" inset in the top of the posts.   Most of the quilt rack is glued up.  The "arms" are "tacked" in place to allow me to measure for the dowels length.  The white oak parts will gwt a "Golden Oak" stain, the rest will be a "Dark Walnut" stain. There are FIVE different woods in this thing, chosen for their grain.   The spindles alone have 1 oak, 2 pine, and 4 poplar pieces.   All were from reclaimed "scrap wood" ( we are talking zero dollars here) that I chose for this project.  Still haven't figured out posting pictures on THIS web site, but, if one were to lurk into Wood's web site, my little projects are there to look at.

give me a picture, I'll give you a finished piece
