Re: Holzman and Vega lathes

I am looking for a lathe for our shop. I would like one with a duplicator so we can crank out balusters and such when
neccessary but it also needs to be usable for basic hand turning of one-off items and I would like something user friendly
as I will be instructing about a dozen students a year in basic lathe use on this machine. I have literature on the Vega 1553
and the Holzman KD 1200 but have seen neither in person. Anyone have any comments pro or con on these machines?
Suggestions of other machines I should be looking at? I only have about $3000 to spend (so the top of the line Oneway is
not an option). Thanks

HOLZMANN KD 1200 (post #91235, reply #1 of 3)

I have a 10 year old Holzmann KD 1200 Wood lathe with copy device that has never been used. I would be interested in selling it. I live in Nortern California.

Wood Lathe (post #91235, reply #2 of 3)

rcauen,

You're replying to a very old post.

List your lathe as a new post on the left in the section named "For Sale"

lathe motor (post #91235, reply #3 of 3)

Hello, I have the same lathe. I know this post is old and was wondering if you still have it?

The motor in mine burnt out & the data tag is illegible, so I am having a hard time finding a replacement. If you still have it could I get the motor info off yours?

Thanks

Tim
