Need help finding back issue

medicinedog's picture

I just became a member this morning so bear with me. I was so intrigued by a project in a back issue I viewed while standing in line at the grocery check out that I decided to join Fine wood working and try my hand at it. The project was a desk or sideboard I believe. It wasn't the project itself, but that it was made of many different colors of wood. A "coat of many colors" so to speak. I believe it was partially painted white also. It was featured in the last year. I have searched the files but come up empty handed. If anyone could direct me to the title of the article, the craftsman etc it would be greatly appreciated.

There is a work bench that comes to mind with drawers bellow that have different drawer fronts. Could it have been a work bench? I will check my paper mags and get back to you if no one else does.

Welcome to knots

If not I was originally thinking of Harry Williams work bench but did not find any articles showing it let alone in the last year. There is a photo in Lon Schleinings's book The Workbench p 35 of Mr William's bench. Probably not what you were after.

Could have been Fine Home Building magazine. Or another magazine.

good luck

Hey, I appreciate the effort you spent trying to find this article for me.  I am new at this whole process and did not think I had even got my message out there.  None of the articles were the one I was looking for but the ones you did send inspired me just the same.  I've got the concept in my head anyway and will try to build something from that.  Its more fun that way anyhow.  Thanks again.  By the way I'm from your neighbor state Wyoming.

medicinedog,

Hey ! ! ! We were worried about you. Glad you're doing OK. I thought you might have been down sized and you decided to chuck all this woodworking stuff and move to Poland. That sounds off the wall doesn't it. I heard the other day there are jobs in Poland. The Irish are moving there. It's a whacky world !

Any way Oh well I gave it a shot. Maybe it was another woodworking magazine even.

If you find it maybe you will post it. Otherwise we would like to see what you are working on.

>neighbor state Wyoming<
In the seventies I rode my touring bicycle across Wyoming. It is a good way to really experience your state. At times I could imagine what it was like doing the trip on horse back before paved roads. Of course I went north to south to take advantage of the prevailing winds. ( hey I am not as nutty as you might think )

Well ok I am but I still like a tail wind.
