INCA planer blades (post #91853)

*
I am wondering if there is another source where I can buy blades for my combination INCA planer/jointer. Garrett Wade wants $93 for two HSS blades. The set I have is fine--I just thought it would be nice to have an extra set on hand. My machine is about 12-13 years old. I think it is a 510. Also, I wanted to purchase a newer plastic cover to use when in the planer mode--the newer ones are set up to use a 4" DC hose. I was told that the new ones wouldn't fit my machine very well; and cost $89. The guy I talked with was forthright/honest, he said just to build one out of plywood and glue in a 4" pvc pipe to hood up to a DC. Any info/thoughts on these issues would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Now in a new century, does anyone know of a source from Inca 510 planar blades besides eagle-tools.com who want $119 for a pair when they get some in about four weeks?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi DGreen,

Sorry, dumb, incomplete post on my part.

The Inca 510 blades are: 10 1/4" x 1" x 1/8" thick.

My Powermatic blades have no holes in them but the Inca blades have a pair of oval holes
- about 9/16" x 3/16"
- centered about 1 11/16" from each end
- about 3/16" from the bottom.

Supposedly the original blades were made from (high?) carbon steel versus high speed steel.

Thanks,
Bill

I just found a source.

Last week I submitted an item about my Powermatic 6" jointer:
http://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=43458.1)

One of the responses referenced was W. Moore Profiles:
http://www.wmooreprofiles.com/default.aspx

It wasn't obvious from their website but after downloading their 18MB catalog I found two part numbers labeled Inca (PK-413-10B: $46.20, PK-416-10B: $52.85)

Now I have to confirm that they actually have slots.

If anyone has other sources, let me know.

Thanks,
Bill
