hardwood suppliers search
I am new to woodworking and just finished to organize my workshop. I have no experience in buying rough hardwood lumbar and I need some names and contact information on where i can find suppliers in the NYC area or Monticello NY zip 12726. I would like places that I can visit and choose what I like.
Thanks
Uri Weinstein

Uri, check out West Penn hardwoods, they are in Olean NY 14760. I have no idea where that is in relation to you but they are in the same state!, walk-ins i believe get better pricing the folks like me.
I have used them several times before and have always been satisfied with the lumber. I live in Ohio and have had to purchase sight unseen from them and the boards and price have always been better then what I could find locally.
as a matter of fact I just received this week 300 bft of lumber from them that looks really good and I am looking forward to using this winter. I suggest you check out their closeout section on their web site for great deals, they are moving and are unloading excess stock at great prices right now.
I got 150 bft of the sapele shorts and another 150 of the soft curly maple. the maple boards are longer then they told me (they said about 8' and they are mostly 12') but look great!
check em out! good luck steve

If your coming all the way from NY city area, then Babcock Lumber in Buffalo NY. You could also contact Arts Woodworking in Niagara Falls area ask for Art G. You should be able to find some people in Albany area that have hardwood for very reasonable $$.
