I live in Evanston. I'd be interested in joining one with you if you find one.
You can take woodworking courses --Elston Lumber used to offer them (not sure if they still do). You can also take courses from Jeff Miller (www.furnituremaking.com). I've taken several courses from him (and bought furniture from him). His courses are outstanding.
