Rockwell overarm router/shaper
For sale, -- an upgraded version of the Rockwell overarm router/shaper from the seventies or so. I've replaced the stock table, which is too small, with a Boice Crane shaper table, going from 14 x 18 to 24 x 28, large enough to attach a powerfeeder and handle something larger than tiny. I can include the original table as well, and it comes with the fence for the Boice Crane shaper, though not the original Rockwell fence. I have made a good quality aluminim plate that screws down to the BC table insert (which in turn is screwed down into the table) with a .25" pin routing pin. Other sizes could easily be fabricated. Will include two original power heads and the mounts for them, but after changing all the bearings in both routers and power mounts for them I decided more power was needed for serious shapeing, and so the shaper is now powered by a Porter Cable 7518 router (variable speed). This set up gives the power of a PC 7518, but buffers the stress on the bearings on a more solidly built cast iron assembly. This gives a lot more power when running a bit of any size, and i also include a .5" shaper arbor that can be run on the lower router. This is a great machine for someone who wants the capabilites of pin routing, and also needs a medium duty shaper, in one compact unit. The overarm head can be tilted and swung, allowing for interesting mortising possibilties --see pics. Prefer pick-up in my Colrain, Ma shop, but will work with you if that's not possible. I had big plans for this, but ended up heading down the CNC route instead, and I don't have room in my shop for a little used machine. Asking $1000 without the PC 7518 ---or $1250 with.
