Satinwood Banding (post #170465)

I want to make a piece of Mahogany furniture and outline the top and edge of the drawer fronts with Satinwood. The inlay/edging will be 3/4-1in wide with the grain being crossgrain. I can not find any inlay like this. Do I need to just buy veneer and cut my own crossgrain strips?
What are your thoughts on using Satinwood with Mahognay.
Thanks
